Synopsis
In the middle of the night, the famous writer Onoff is arrested and taken to the police station. There, the commissioner awaits him and begins to interrogate him, as it appears that a murder has been committed. Onoff is ordered to explain where he was that afternoon, with whom he was, and whether he saw or did anything unusual. Onoff, however, to both their frustration, cannot remember anything at all. And the more the commissioner points out small imperfections in his statements, the angrier Onoff becomes that he is seen as a suspect. Out of sheer panic that he would end up innocent in jail, he escapes from his cell at night. Unfortunately, he is found again and apprehended, and his breakout attempt has not done his credibility any good. The next day, therefore, the interrogations resume in an increasingly grim tone. Is the commissar accusing an innocent, or is the writer a genius liar?
